About Us

Welcome to Alpine Creek Lodge! We are an Alaska Lodge located at mile 68 of the Denali Highway, and we are open year round for you! We have spent most of our lives in Alaska.  Claude started out in Fairbanks as a kid, and then attended college at Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka Alaska. Claude has lived in many Alaskan communities, including Fairbanks, Homer, Kodiak, Dutch Harbor, Ketchikan, Craig, Wrangell, Juneau, Pelican, Yakutat, Soldotna and Kenai.  Jennifer grew up in Anchorage and then went back to Delaware for a few years with family and to attend college.  Our son, Bob, was born in 2003, and he is truly enjoying the lifestyle of remote living at the lodge.

There are so many opportunities  here that in a lifetime you couldn’t do them all. We want to welcome you to what we believe is the TRUE Alaska adventure. No long lines, no crowds, and best of all no buses! We want to share with you the things that we get to experience every day. The gorgeous scenery, the wildlife, the fresh air, in essence how Alaska was meant to be seen. Up close and personal. We would love it if you would come join us for some adventure, great friends, great food, and our genuine Alaskan hospitality. Thank you for considering Alpine Creek Lodge!

Eye on the Trail: Heading North to Cantwell – Jr. Iditarod

jriditarod.com

Well, if you’re into checking Map Quest the distance from Anchorage to Cantwell is listed as 210 miles taking about 3 and a half hours. As visibility decreased coming out of Anchorage and snow flurries blew across the road, we knew the miles would seem longer and the time would be more than predicte…

Greetings on behalf of Junior Iditarod. My name is Emily Krol, and I am the race marshal this year. The race has been moved to Cantwell, and we are looking for volunteers to help with the start of the race. If you would like to help, please come to the Cantwell School at 9am on Sunday for a short meeting. If you can not help, join us for breakfast at the school from 9a-11a and then come down to the start line at noon to cheer the junior mushers on!

If you have questions, feel free to message me on here.

I'm the Jr. Iditarod Volunteer Coordinator. I'm looking for volunteers to be dog handlers, set-up and take down of the start/ finish line, sled checkers, and sled holders. We also need a lot of people to cheer on the teams at the start and finish line. Help is needed to set up and take down at the school for the musher banquet. The start will be Sunday, at noon, near the parking on the Denali Highway, where it is blocked for the winter. The Alpine Creek Lodge will be the halfway point for the mushers.
I will be in Cantwell in the evening on Saturday. I can reached at kme_eones@yahoo.com 444-6503

Thank you

The Junior Iditarod is being moved north to Cantwell after low snow in Southcentral Alaska forced organizers to find trail elsewhere.

Another inch of snow this morning! Had a few inches yesterday. Temps are warmer than usual, but at least cold enough to snow most of the time. Going to set it up great for March riding! I bet there's a ton of new snow up high in the Clearwaters! Join the Clearwater Mountain Riders Association on Facebook! Claude
