About Us

Welcome to Alpine Creek Lodge! We are an Alaska Lodge located at mile 68 of the Denali Highway, and we are open year round for you! We have spent most of our lives in Alaska.  Claude started out in Fairbanks as a kid, and then attended college at Sheldon Jackson College in Sitka Alaska. Claude has lived in many Alaskan communities, including Fairbanks, Homer, Kodiak, Dutch Harbor, Ketchikan, Craig, Wrangell, Juneau, Pelican, Yakutat, Soldotna and Kenai.  Jennifer grew up in Anchorage and then went back to Delaware for a few years with family and to attend college.  Our son, Bob, was born in 2003, and he is truly enjoying the lifestyle of remote living at the lodge.

There are so many opportunities  here that in a lifetime you couldn’t do them all. We want to welcome you to what we believe is the TRUE Alaska adventure. No long lines, no crowds, and best of all no buses! We want to share with you the things that we get to experience every day. The gorgeous scenery, the wildlife, the fresh air, in essence how Alaska was meant to be seen. Up close and personal. We would love it if you would come join us for some adventure, great friends, great food, and our genuine Alaskan hospitality. Thank you for considering Alpine Creek Lodge!

Claude and Jennifer Bondy

We have a restaurant that is open for anyone to stop in and have a great meal while traveling the Denali Highway.  Chef Chrissy is an amazing cook who prepares all of our meals and desserts.  Breakfast and Dinner are all you can eat and served family style.  Lunches are made to order with the choices of Hamburgers, Grilled Cheese, Deli Sandwiches, Chili and Homemade Soups.

Thank you Jennifer, Claude, Bob and Chrissy for allowing us mushers to have your winter oasis, Alpine Creek Lodge, in the midst of the Alaskan wilds, many miles within the interior. The food and hospitality is exceptional ! I think I can speak for all mushers by saying a huge thank you. Truly a home-away-from-home. My dogs enjoyed basking in the sun on the hill.

Ride Announcement

Ride Leader: Erik Burney (erikinak@gci.net)
Rating: Intermediate to Advanced

Come join us for the great riding to be found in the Clearwater Mountains!
This is a Friday to Sunday ride so get your leave slips in early!
Since the group will likely comprise of folks from Anchorage and Mat-Su we will meet at Millers in Houston at 9am for a headcount and then proceed to Cantwell. Assuming no delays we should be on the trail by noon.
For those unfamiliar, the ride in is on the Denali Highway itself which normally gets no winter maintenance. Except for a stretch that gets wind drifted, the ride in should be smooth and fast. SCRATCHERS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
If it’s sunny the scenery will be fantastic and there’s always a good chance to see wildlife! Caribou and moose sightings are common with fox, wolves and even wolverines possible. Depending on how often we stop for photos (highly encouraged!), the ride to the lodge should take about 2 to 2.5 hours. RIDERS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR BELOW ZERO TEMPS, especially in the vicinity of the Susitna River. (Don’t worry…it’ll be 20* warmer at the lodge)
Alpine Creek Lodge has a variety of accommodations at a range of prices. For room availability and to sign up for this ride you will have to BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE LODGE (907) 743-0565.
Once you have booked, email me with your contact info and the names of the people traveling with you. If you will be driving please include a description of your vehicle/trailer & snowmachine(s) as the case may be. Prior to departure I will verify names with the lodge and call everyone who signed up.

Upon arrival at the lodge and after everyone has had a chance to get situated I will lead a ride until dark (6-6:30pm). The snow will dictate where but east towards the open rolling terrain of the Clearwater River is likely. On Saturday we will go to where the best snow is.
Other than the ride in and back out, this trip will consist primarily of off-trail powder riding. You don’t need a “mountain sled” to enjoy yourself but you do need to know how to carve and read terrain. If you ride whatever you ride with confidence you’ll have a blast!

See you there!

Here are some great pictures taken by Tim Plowden while he spent some time in Alaska this year! It was so much fun having him at the lodge for a while taking him out and looking for critters to be photographed. Great work!!! Looking forward to seeing him again and the pictures he gets on trip number 2! Just amazing!!!

Panoramic shot from the top of our dog truck yesterday. Alpine Creek Lodge Alaska was a hoppin' checkpoint on the Denali Highway for lots of dog mushers chasing winter. There is no better place for excellent training and unbelievably generous hospitality. Thanks as always to the Bondy Family! We'll never miss dinner again! (<— this is likely untrue)
